Today, I’m thrilled to introduce our guest, Kayla Sweet. Kayla has worked as a Talent Acquisition Consultant at the Bowen Center in Elkhart, Indiana, where she contributes to a mission of providing comprehensive mental health care, primary health care, and substance abuse treatment across the state. With a strong academic background, Kayla holds a BA in Psychology and an MA in Consciousness and Transformative Studies. Her expertise lies in Transformational Leadership, Consciousness and Healing, making her an impactful leader in her field.
Kayla has not only completed extensive academic and professional leadership training but has also been recognized with prestigious awards such as the 2018 Library Prize for Undergraduate Research and the 2017/2018 James R. Haines Award for Research in Psychology. Her MA thesis on Internally Guided Leadership offers a unique synthesis of leadership and psychological theories, with real-world applications that she’s eager to share.
In today’s episode, Kayla and I will be discussing the critical topic of burnout—what it is, how to manage it, and how to approach conversations about it with managers or employees. This is especially relevant for those of us in the forensic and first-responder fields, where exposure to intense and often traumatic situations is a daily reality. So, without further ado, let’s dive into this important conversation!
